Produce for People Support

One of the investments we make in the Community Garden program is to support the efforts of the PP&R Community Garden Produce for People program.

The Produce for People program connects gardens and gardeners to food banks and pantries.  The gardeners share some of their produce with the food banks.   In years past this has amounted to 30,000+ pounds of fresh produce shared.

FPCG supports the program by providing two inputs to the process.  We provide soil amendments to the gardens that have dedicated plots for growing Produce for People crops.  This is usually done in the Spring.  We also provide vegetable and herb starts to gardeners who want to participate in the program.  In the fall we provide winter crop starts and cover crops for overwintering the plots.
